Self-host on Sprites sandboxes

Sprites gives each Session a durable microVM with a provider-persistent ext4 filesystem and automatic pause/wake: idle sandboxes suspend and resume on demand without losing workspace bytes. The driver keeps a stable Session name plus ownership labels and owner-validated deletion.

SPRITES_TOKEN= # required (or pass token: to the factory)

On the standalone Node server, select the adapter directly:

Terminal window
SANDBOX_PROVIDER=sprites
SPRITES_TOKEN=...

To embed the driver in the Runtime Host composition, use createSpritesProvider, createSpritesManagedRuntime, or createSpritesManagedRuntimeDriver from @open-managed-agents/managed-runtime-sprites:

const driver = createSpritesManagedRuntimeDriver({
leaseTtlMs: 90_000,
token: process.env.SPRITES_TOKEN, // falls back to the env var
// baseURL, timeoutMs, controlMode — SDK client options
});

Client options: token, baseURL, timeoutMs, and controlMode (passed to the SDK’s SpritesClient), plus lifecycleRetry (maxAttempts, baseDelayMs, wait) for transient provider errors. Per-acquisition knobs go through createOptions (sprite config ram/cpus/region/storageGB, environment, urlSettings, waitForCapacity, runtime) and networkPolicy (native domain rules with allow/deny actions). memoryWorkspace, runtimeEnvironment, outputStore, outputKeyPrefix, credentialEgress, sessionInputs, and readiness complete the option set.
